After-Hours Care

Summerville Family Health Team (FHT) takes your health to heart and recognizes that medical issues often arise outside of our regular office hours. That is why as a Summerville FHT patient we provide you with various options for after-hours care.

While our physicians do reserve same-day appointments for urgent medical needs, you may not know if your issue can wait until the clinic opens. The Telephone Health Advisory Service (THAS) offers Summerville FHT patients after-hours telephone health advice and, when appropriate, access to the Summerville FHT on-call physician.

Alternatively, evening and weekend appointments are available at one of our five locations for urgent issues that arise outside of regular clinic hours. By contacting your clinic using the number below, a recorded message will provide you with the contact information for the appropriate after-hours clinic.

Maintain the circle of care; try to avoid walk-in clinics

• Walk-in clinics do not have access to your medical history 

• Your family physician is rarely notified about a walk-in visit and is therefore unable to provide any necessary follow-up care

• All Summerville FHT physicians and healthcare providers have access to your detailed medical history and can provide appropriate care specific to your needs

• Your medical records are updated and remain clear and consistent

• Your family physician is always made aware of your after-hours visit and can easily follow-up with you if necessary

• After-hours medical advice and care is available to Summerville FHT patients through THAS, our on-call physician or the after-hours clinic
